I’ve improved Barebone Home a little. The most important change is “Connectivity” menu, which allows for quick switching of APN, WiFi and Bluetooth connetions on/off and also displays stats for /sys/class/net/rmnet0 (APN connection). Additionally – “Recent” filter has been added, which is even more handy than built-in recent activities switcher. “Change wallpaper” and “Settings” shortcuts are also useful.
Grab it while it’s hot, I can assure you – it makes hell of a difference on RAM-lacking HTC G1!

Barebone Home v3
Are you fed up with all those fancy launchers for Android? Or do you have an HTC G1 device that can’t handle them with reasonable performance? 😉 Either way, you’re lucky because I’ve recently created a Barebone Launcher/Home Screen implementation. It’s lightweight and practical – it let’s one filter applications using first letter of their name and then select the one to be launched from a regular List View. Certainly nothing fancy about that At first I didn’t tuck in the wallpaper support but it looked way too raw without one so here it is. It works flawlessly with both screen orientations (features proper handling of rotations in onConfigurationChanged()) and well… it needs just about 3.5MB of RAM and switching to/from it is really fast. I hope you like it, in either case let me know what you think 😉

Yeah, I won’t deny it – despite loads of work here at CHUV, I found some free time to code a stupid little game for Android ;D You know that as a coder I hate bugs, right? I looked for an existing title that featured some realistic bug smashing action but much to my surprise (and dismay, because I’m a lazy dude and don’t like to code games for myself 😉 ) I found nothing for my Android 1.6-based HTC G1. So… I grabbed some animated bug from Google Images and off I went The triumphant result – BUG SMASHER Action Game ;D is here! Featuring:
– unlimited bug splatter
– three colors of blood (user-customizable)
– touchable user interface
– one action-packed level ;d
– realistic sound effect (singular form intended)
Here are some appetizer screenshots for you:
And here goes this precious little piece of bug smashing pleasure (RENAME *.zip TO *.apk):
I will figure out how to push it to Android Market some day.
Update! You should try this version, it features a huge performance boost + bug size option, time display and kills counter (RENAME *.zip TO *.apk):
